Troubleshooting single burner won't ignite.

Looking for some confirmation of what part might be bad while troubleshooting a single burner that won't light on this gas stove.
The most used burner is not regularly igniting (front right) with the use of the knob. If I let the gas run for a few seconds and then turn it to light it is possible to get it to fire but that is becoming more difficult. I have tried cleaning everything I could see but that has not helped at all.
I am not sure if it is just the igniter that is bad and it is a cheap fix or it is a more complicated repair with more expensive parts.
All knobs elicit a clicking but this one burner won't light easily.
Any insight appreciated.
Actually I am wondering if it is as simple as this part:
Kenmore Range/Stove/Oven Spark Electrode WB13K10014

Should I try replacing this first and then the igniter if unsuccessful?
Should I test resistance on these parts to see if they are still functional?

Much thanks.

NE595R0ABSR Samsung oven not heating correctly

Samsung oven not heating properly. Wife has tried baking using the bake setting and convection settings and both setting will not heat properly. Placed a thermometer inside the oven and the temps are about 100 degrees off. All the elements ohm out correctly. The factory thermometer ohms out correctly. I have 220V to all elements except for the convection element.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Maytag oven problem

I have a Maytag Gas range, Model MGR7662WB 2, Serial Number R04713246. The burners all work fine. The broiler will light some times but not every time. When it does light, the sequence is as follows; I push the broil and start buttons, the igniter will spark 5-7 times(approximate) and then stop shortly after the igniter will start to spark again and there is an audible sound, "clunk" (valve opening ? ). With the oven, I push bake and start and the igniter will spark then stop. 15- 20 seconds later it will spark again (always 5-7 times, I haven't actually counted). After another 20 seconds it sparks again but I never hear the audible "clunk" sound. There does not seem to be any type of glow plug/preheat on this igniter. Tried replacing the igniter with no change. ANy help short of having to replace the oven would be appreciated.

Igniter Cost

My oven igniter glows but gas is not flowing. From reading various posts, I'm assuming I need to order a new igniter.

I was thinking 30 to 50 dollars, but the replacement for EOM part number 318177710 is coming up at 192 dollars. Is this correct?

Thanks in advance.

Samsung gas range NX58H9950WS/AA door locked, display blank, stovetop working after self cleaning?

Please advise how to fix locked oven door, unresponsive display panel AFTER SELF cleaning session. It's out of warranty. I already unplugged power cord and reconnected, but it didn't help. Cooktop burner works fine though. Thank you in advance.

Obsolete oven temperature sensor?

Hello all, this is my first time posting. Please bear with me here, as I know next to nothing about oven repair.

I'm trying to replace a spent temperature sensor on my very old Eaton Viking oven (Canadian model), which seems quite obsolete judging by the the components. As you can see by the photos I've attached (where it looks like something exploded), the sensor assembly is quite different from the standard models of today. There are yellow and black wires with flat, clip-like connectors (sorry, I know zero terminology) which clip into metal slots on the back of the white box on the back of the sensor. This is all mounted on the back of the oven using just one screw on the left-hand side, where there is a single screw-hole, so the mounting itself is different from the modern types as well.

My question is, could there be a workaround for connecting a new temperature sensor to this oven, given the mismatching parts, or am I hooped? Thanks in advance for your patience with my explanation, and any advice.

Viking VGRC365-6BDSS - No Ignition Spark in 4 of 6 Burners and No Ignition in Right Oven Burner Tube

We have an older Viking oven/range and in the past two years (since we moved into this house) I've become a tiny bit acquainted with some of the issues that Vikings have. I've already replaced both of the oven igniters, which solved a previous oven-not-getting-hot problem. Now I'm not getting ignition in the right side burner tube again. This comes on the heels of our range giving us issues as well. The left front and back burners spark and ignite, but the right 4 (two front and two back) won't spark.

Finally, I think something is going on with the broiler, it looks like the back is lighting but the front sputters in and out.

I suspect I need a new spark module to solve the range issue, but I'm stumped about the oven going again.

Thanks in advance for any advice/thoughts.

EW27EW55GS5 Electrolux wall oven won't maintain temperature

My Electrolux wall oven will heat up to about 50 degrees below the set temperature. (Used 2 thermometers for the average) It then begins loosing temperature and will not kick back on.(will drop below 100 degrees if set at 400)

I have replaced the oven temperature sensor with no change in performance.

I have now noticed that if set on "convection bake" it will preheat to within 25 degrees of set temperature and maintain the temperature within 25-50 degrees.

Any ideas? What's next, the control panel perhaps?

Thanks for any input.

NX58F5500SS Samsung gas range control panel not responding

We have a Samsung free-standing gas range model NX58F5500SS. The problem is that the control panel buttons are not responding. By the way, the “control panel lock” function is not enabled.

Tried the following:

[1] Check the outlet voltages between Hot, Neutral, and Ground. Hot is about 120V from Ground/Neutral. No voltage between Ground and Neutral.

[2] Very little resistance between Ground and the gas range chassis.

[3] Unplug the oven for a time and then plug it again. The display shows the words “Cook Time” for a minute or so, and then it displays the clock. After a few minutes, it goes back to displaying “Cook Time”, a minute passes, and then back to the clock. It does this over and over. While all this happens, the control panel buttons are unresponsive. Every once in a while, after unplugging and re-plugging the unit, everything looks normal for a while (buttons respond to touch) and then it goes back to the “Cook Time” loop. If we leave the range unplugged for a few hours, then as soon as we plug it in, all the display segments light up before going into the “Cook Time” loop.

[4] Disconnect the ribbon cable between the control panel and the printed circuit board (PCB). After plugging the range back in, we get a flashing clock but no “Cook Time”. Of course, the control panel is no longer connected to the PCB so the buttons are unresponsive.

[5] We replaced the PCB thinking it was the culprit but the problem remained.

At this point we are thinking about replacing the control panel. Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Problems with Frigidaire LP gase range, # FGF366C

I have a Frigidaire gas range converted to LP. Model number FGF366C. It was purchased used, so I don’t know it’s history. I’m having problems with the flames being way too high in the oven. Also it’s impossible to keep in at temperature without hearing a puff or pop as the burners relight, then start the blow-torch flames. The un-burned propane smell is also obvious. Here are the steps I’ve taken so far…

-Checked and rechecked the propane conversion. Everything shows it was done correctly according to the manual.
-Replaced the computer. This was done because there were fried geckos in it.
-Replaced the regulator
-Replaced the ignitor

The only thing left to replace is the safety valve. I can’t find anything that says that could be the problem, so I’m hesitant to put any more time and money into this range.

I would appreciate any advice/help. I live in a remote area on Maui, Hawaii and the Sears repairman will not come out, so I’m forced to be a home repairman.

Aloha,

Scott

VGSC530-4B Viking burner clicks but doesn't spark

Hi all --

First post! Hoping your experience can help.

I have a 30" Viking self cleaning range. As you likely know, the gas burners had an electric igniter to fire the gas (as with all other brands).

One of my burners is not igniting. In the 'light' position, I can hear the ignitier clicking, but there is no actual spark visible.

I can hear the clicking like it is happening below the surface of the cooktop, so the mechanism appears to be working, but it is failing to produce a spark at the burner.

The 3 other burners are working perfectly.

Any ideas? Many thanks in advance.

F10 Error - Kenmore Double Oven - Replace EOC display board or relay board??

Hello - Thank you all in advance for reading my question. I have a Kenmore electric double wall oven (Model # 790.47773404 ) that throws a F10 fault code whenever the top oven is in use. My first test was the temperature probe in the top oven where I replaced it with a new probe. Both the original and new showed about 1000ohms which seems to be an OK reading. I went ahead and replaced it since the part was relatively cheap. The oven still gives me a F10 fault code. In the Service Data Sheet that was provided with the oven, it indicates the next parts to replace are the electronic oven control relay board (part # 316334913) or the electronic oven control display board (part # 316443819).Pictures of both are attached. Both of these parts are relatively expensive so before ordering either of them is there a test to see which is the one that's needed? I also tested the wiring harness from the temperature probes that connects to the EOC display board which read about 1000 ohms. This only seems to happen with the top oven and not the bottom. The bottom oven seems to be working perfectly and does not throw a fault code.

Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated. Thank you again.

GE range won't stop clicking. Problems with ignition system

Hi guys,

I have a GE JGP975SEK2SS (link to wiring diagram below) range stove top that I haven't been able to get working quite right. Basically it won't stop clicking like the ignition module is always on when it's plugged in.

It started after I spilled a bunch of stew all over the stove (pressure cooker opened too early). I took off the top piece and cleaned up the area under the top facade.

I've also replaced the spark ignition module when I noticed arcing between the terminals with the leads removed (didn't change anything).

I've also taken apart each individual switch and cleaned the internals multiple times (some looked like they needed to be cleaned out, but the problem persists when everything is reassembled.) I'm pretty sure the ignition switch harness is working correctly, as it functions as expected when hooked up to a multi meter.

Removing the ceramic igniters, it sounds like the clicking is coming from somewhere around the spark module or the wires coming out of it but I don't see an arc anywhere and the wires don't have any obvious damage.

The wires from the spark igniter seem to really want to arc towards each other, they will arc if put next to each other even when the leads are covered with electrical tape or if one lead is removed from the module (will arc from bare module terminal to closest wire terminal).

So I'm here looking for insight and advice on how to fix my stove. Also, it seems very strange to me that two live wires would be arcing between each other. Is this normal behavior?

Thank you for any help

LWS3081ST LG Oven Display Temperature Never Reaches Preset Temperature

Good morning. Please forgive me if I am asking a stupid question, this is my first time on the forum. I have not been able to find any information regarding my issue elsewhere, so here I am.

About six weeks ago our LG oven stopped displaying (and reaching) the preset temperature. If we set the temperature to 350, then the displayed (and internal temperature via dial thermometer) reads between 320 and 330 degrees. If we set the temperature to 400 then the oven shows between 360 and 370. No matter where we set the temperature, it always displays less. I have gone to the extreme and set it at 400 to get it to go over 350 and then moved it back down, and the temperature drops to previous levels. I have verified that the oven's thermostat is functioning as expected by checking the Ohm resistance. I think it showed 1094 or somewhere around there. I have also cut power to the oven to try and 'reset' the software. I also understand that you can 'adjust' the expected temperature by up to 35 degrees. Which, I am tempted to do, but I don't know if this will correct the display showing that the oven never reaches the preset temperature. Has anyone run into this issue? I have read many posts about ovens never actually getting up to temperature or going over temperature, but from my understanding, the display in these cases shows that the oven is at the right temperature.

Thank you in advance for any advice and help!

Help with GE Monogram oven

I could use some assistance in tracking down the cause of incorrect oven temperatures and slow oven heating.

Pretty much from day one, this has been a problem oven but at the time I had no idea it was behaving strangely.
Cakes were always very flat, food cooking too slowly but the temps always read out as it was set. One recipe happened to call for an initial temperature of 475 for a short time, then a reduction to 325 and that is when I discovered that the temperature displayed is not always the temp inside.
I cancelled the 475 and reset to 325 and then the oven tells me it was at 285 and it was now reheating to 325. After, I would periodically check to see if the temperature that was showing was in fact the temp. Each time I happened to be baking, I'd cancel and reset to the desired temp, only to find the oven was off by as much as 80 degrees. A manual thermometer confirmed.

The oven is extremely slow to reach any set temperature and often stalls for a long time or until I cancel and again reset the desired temp and again, the "stalled" temperature that was displayed was incorrect, it was lower. It can take 10-15 minutes or more for it to reach 350. This oven is 4 yrs old and has been lightly used. It was an expensive oven and if I did not have the matching microwave, I would have tossed it already out of frustration.

I am remodeling, so the oven is now out. I have tested the thermostat sensor and it comes back at 1167 ohms at 80 degrees.
I tested each element for the broiler, for the convection, and for the oven-baking. I have used convection only one time since new.

Baking element has four terminals, assuming twin elements.. outer terminals=57 ohms, inner terminals=34.6 ohms
Broil element has four terminals, as above...outer terminals=36.5 ohms, inner terminals=23.9 ohms
Convection element, ditto, four elements...outer terminals=34.7 ohms, inner terminals =62.3 ohms

Are these ohm readings within GE specs?

When "baking" only, do any other elements came on to assist in heating the oven to the correct temp, then turn off?
If the baking element is bad, am I faced with removing the entire oven interior to get at it?

Could it be the relay board that is my problem?

Many thanks for any help.
