My 1940's era Hardwick oven won't light. It's a model without a pilot light.

My Hardwick stove has an oven without a pilot light that you turn the knob to "gas on" and light it manually when you want to use the oven. Recently when I went to light the oven, nothing happened. There is no sound and no gas smell, so it would seem that the oven is not getting gas. Any ideas what's wrong? Is it the thermostat or whatever it's called that's located behind the control knob? If so, can I still find this part anywhere? All four burners work fine. I also cannot find the model number.
