LG LRE30453ST/01 Heating Issues

I am having oven heating issues with my 9+ year old LG Oven. Several months ago, the oven had an over heating issue in June 2017. This was fixed on a recall from LG and the technician replaced parts 6322B62214A (thermistor) and 6871W1N012B (PWB(PCB) Assy, Sub) lower Relay. The oven worked fine until early December when the oven will not properly heat and has faulted out with F-7 error code. I can get the oven to heat now, but extremely slow, and will not heat past 280 deg. (and this takes +30 minutes). I tested both elements and they are fine. I replaced the lower element just as a precaution and also installed another new oven sensor (thermistor) as the latest one appeared to be bad. I would also note that if I turn on the Broiler, it will not stay on, and shuts itself off. Could the lower control board have failed already? and is there a way I can test it? Or does this seem like it is the main (upper PCB) control board?
Any advice/guidance is appreciated!
One other item...I was able to run a Cleaning cycle.

Bake button not working

I inherited a Whirlpool Gold Series slide in oven, model YGY396LXPS01, in a condo purchase. The bake button does not work. All of the other buttons work. I can use "Custom Broil", but when I press "Bake" nothing happens. Any ideas for what is going on? Thanks.

Maytag Gemini double oven, neither oven top or bottom will heat. But broiler works.

Neither top or bottom ovens of my maytag gemini double oven will not heat. Both starters will glow but won't ignite. However the broiler does work.
I was thinking of replacing both igniters but could it be the starter module ? Thanks for any help. This oven has not been used much since it is in a vacation house so am puzzled as how it went bad with such infrequent use.

NE58K9430SS Samsung Range Display Issue

Hi all,

First post. Just recently our range has started freaking out. Typically after using the range, the display will flicker and display random items, similar to this video I found on YouTube:

Sometimes turning off the breaker for a few minutes and then turning it back on will solve the problem for a little while... but now it's been coming back more often, even when range hasn't been in use. The range still seems to function properly, except the display is illegible.

Any thoughts? I'm leaning toward replacing the control PCB... but not sure if it could just be the Display LCD.

Generic Question on Oven Element Durability

I just had an arcing failure of the broiling element in a 6 year old Miele oven. I use the rotisserie feature of this oven quite frequently which employs the broiler and always with a pan of water in the oven under the rotisserie to prevent smoking since the cooking time is around an hour. This results in very moist air conditions in the oven while cooking to the point that a cloud of steam escapes from the oven when I open the door.

My question is whether these moist conditions could have accelerated the failure of the broiler element. This is now the second time I've had a broiling element fail (KitchenAid oven the first time) with moist air broiling in ovens that were around 5 years old. Regular baking and convection baking never has the same moisture conditions since I don't see the same clouds of steam on opening the oven door. Those elements remain durable and I've never had those elements fail on ovens that have been as old as 20 years.

I'm wondering if these recent, similar element failures are coincidental or if oven elements can deteriorate prematurely if operated in moist air.

GE Oven not maintaining Temp

I have an old GE XL44 pilot system that is not maintaining temp. I can get it up to about 125 degrees but the gas valve shuts down the burner. The pilot is strong. But I fear that there is some issue with that sensor. I polished it up a bit with some sandpaper but I can't get it to change its behaviors. I really don't want to dump $200 in to a new valve. Is there a way to adjust the thermostat? Would you guys say I have a t-stat issue or a valve issue?

Thanks for your time!

GE double wall oven, oven cycle light coming on sporadically

Hi there,

I recently purchased a home that has a GE double wall oven model # JKP27BOD1BB. After moving in we notice the oven cycle light on the bottom oven turns on by itself when the oven is not in use. It will heat for a few minutes and then go off only to come on again later. The upper oven has digital controls, and the lower oven has a knob control. Apart from this the oven seems to function correctly, I have cooked food In the upper oven with no problems. Any ideas what could be causing the oven cycle light to come on and any information on what part I might need to replace to fix this issue. Any advice is appreciated.

Many thanks,

Louise

Convection oven blower issue

Hello, this is my first time here. I am not sure if you can help because this is a commercial oven, but I said I will give it a try, so thanks in advance for your time and help.

This is Duke E101 with Emerson electric motor model s63nxkal-7989, 1/2 H.P. 1725RPM 110/115V. The blower will not start by itself but it make noise (humming) so we give it a push in the CW direction, and after closing the door it starts and work perfectly.

I opened the motor to see if the capacitor blown out or any other part that can cause the issue, but all seem visibly ok.

I suspect that the capacitor needs to be replaced but not sure. Can you please tell me what can be checked/done?

I attached images for the motor and the capacitor.

Thank you.

Samsung Range NX58H9950WS/AA dead after selfclean

After a selfclean the oven door was stuck and front panel dead. I read instructions on how to get the door open.

Most posts talk about the thermal switch or high heat fuze that needs to be replaced. I just could not find it. I did an ohm test on the termostat and it tested fine at room temperature. How do I find it?

I read another article and saw a video where someone replaced the front lcd to fix it. I ordered that part from this site but it it still not working. I checked the voltage on the main wiring coming to the front panel and it was dead. The back pcb shows one pin at 5v, but I could not get any reading on the front. The white /black wire to the front panel has power. I tested the voltage on the rear pcb but could not get any reading. I am a novice at this, so I am not sure if there is a high heat / thermal cutoff, or if there is something I can do to troubleshoot. Replace the PCB?

The gastop works/ignites.

Any help appreciated

Kitchenaid/Whirlpool Compatibility

I had a Kitchenaid Tech come out to check on our double wall ovens. The control panel beeped but no lights and nothing turned on. Was told I need a new electronic control panel and it was not available. He offered to sell me new ovens.

He did not mention a compatible Whirlpool part - WPW 10438752.

So I call Kitchenaid and they say do not use that Whirlpool part in your Kitchenaid oven. But when I look on-line I see that it is supposed to be compatible.

So now I am confused - can I use a Whirlpool part in a Kitchenaid oven - will it work. What is the downside?

The website I looked at was appliancepartspros.com - they said it is compatible.

Frigidaire FGGF3054MFG Oven

Condition 1 In NORMALBAKE --Oven bake burner lights normally and comes up to temperature. Cycles off normally when it reaches temp, but broiler element never comes on for top browning. Tested broiler burner in broil mode - it works perfect and cycles normally.

information shows that the broil burner should cycle alternately with the lower burner to achieve

Condition 2 -- in CONVECTION BAKE - same problem -- however we noticed that the Convection Fan never comes on.

Going to the circuit diagram and ladder chart, it shows the bake and broil element should alternate off and on during the normal bake cycle when the thermostat calls for heat..... Also shows the convection fan should be on during the convection cycle - and electric element should cycle with alternately with the lower burner.

Logic says the there is an issue within the Logic Cycle of the control board. Control board was replaced - issue remains....

Have not tested the temperature sensor - but see from other posts it should be about 1100 ohms at room temp.-- However, since the temperature is cycling normally (tested with digital meter) it probably eliminates this issue.

HELP??

Carbon Monoxide

Friend has a gas oven, configured for natural gas. Carbon Monoxide detector goes off, trace issue back to oven. Found heavy amounts of carbon under burner, consistent with incomplete combustion. noted air holes stamped into rear of broiler compartment not lined up to allow proper ventilation, suspect manufacturing error. Bosch Oven Timer Locked

We have a newer Bosch Double oven with the Right-hand Swing Doors. My wife does a lot of baking and loves that she doesnt have to reach over the hot doors to get things in and out of tbe oven. Only major flaw with this oven is there is something wrong with the built in Kitchen Timer feature. It has gotten itself locked on 4 minutes and is frozen. Can't clear it without turning the main power off from the circuit breaker (shouldnt have to do that with a new appliance!). Bosch cant figure out a solution. They replaced the oven and the same problem happened with 2 weeks of using the new oven! Something is wrong with the software, or controller, or both. Has anyone else experienced this?

DEDO 205 Viking Double Oven dead after self clean

The other night I decided to use the self clean mode on the top oven. Self clean worked fine, however at the end of the cycle the top door stayed latched and there is no heat to either the top or bottom oven. 3 years ago I had to replace the top oven door latch after self cleaning, but there was heat to both ovens. This time the door is latched and no heat. I turned off power hoping something would reset, however that did not correct the problem.

Bertazzoni X304GGVX Oven takes forever to heat

I have a Bertazzoni X304GGVX hooked up to propane that takes over an hour to preheat to 400 degrees F, if ever, I usually just cook longer or use the grill.
It starts fine just won't heat. I've ordered a new thermocouple as I've read on other boards that they have a tendency to fail and could be the culprit for many issues, although I haven't been able to find anyone with my model and setup. I've been told that it shouldn't have anything to do with being hooked up to propane. Our top burners work fine, even run a little hot. I'm going to try and replace the thermocouple first to see if that helps, then I may try replacing the thermostat. I'm hoping someone has had this experience or has suggestions to fix the problem.

Thanks.

R2145BB Wedgewood/Atwood oven Pilot problems

Hi!
Please help if you can!
Oven burners and oven will light, but pilot light does not seem to work correctly. If we turn the oven on to lets say 250 degrees, and hold the flame over pilot light, it will come on and oven will work. It will then turn off once the oven reaches temperature. Pilot flame is then off and does not come on again. So yeah we can cook with it as long as we keep opening oven door so it does not shut off when it reaches temp. Not very efficient. 😑
Replaced the Automatic Pilot Safety valve with brand new one and still same problem 😔

Caloric Wall Oven Pilot Ignition

Hi all,

We have a Caloric wall oven that is original to our 1950's era house. It works pretty well, so we haven't been in a hurry to replace it, but now I need to know how to light it.

Earlier this week we had a carbon monoxide alarm go ff. We called the fire department, and they shut the gas off to the house. We've cleared up the CO issue (which was the water heater vent) and had the gas company turn the gas back on. We have one line going to the kitchen with a single shut-off valve, and that is in the on position. Our same-era Caloric cooktop is working fine, but we haven't been able to light the oven back up. We don't smell any gas coming from the pilot, which makes me think that some safety device is keeping gas from reaching the pilot when it's not lit. I've attached some photos of what looks to be the pilot in the hopes that someone will recognize the system and give us some advice on how to re-light the pilot.

Thanks!Click image for larger version.  Name: Side View of Pilot.jpg  Views: 1  Size: 156.4 KB  ID: 35016Click image for larger version.  Name: Bottom Back View of Pilot.jpg  Views: 1  Size: 224.0 KB  ID: 35013Click image for larger version.  Name: Bottom View of Pilot.jpg  Views: 1  Size: 260.9 KB  ID: 35014Click image for larger version.  Name: _Caloric Oven.jpg  Views: 2  Size: 194.4 KB  ID: 35011Click image for larger version.  Name: Front View of Pilot.jpg  Views: 0  Size: 211.8 KB  ID: 35015Click image for larger version.  Name: Back View of Pilot 1.jpg  Views: 2  Size: 127.7 KB  ID: 35012

Edit: For some reason, it rotated the oven view 90-degrees counter-clockwise and the pilot views 180-degrees.

- Tried disconnecting the power cable and restarting it after some time.

I really appreciate your guidance on how to go with troubleshooting this issue.

HDI7282U/09 Bosch dual fuel range- oven not working after electrical storm

Bosch dual fuel range- oven not working after electrical storm. One red light on control panel.

The control panel on my bosch dual fuel (electric convection oven - propane top burners) does not work after a bad electrical storm. Power supply to outlet good (240). Tried 15 minute reset at breaker box, changed the display/control panel out for a new one. One lone red light is shining on the lower left quadrant of the digital touchpad control display.
Electronic ignition for gas burners is working. Any suggestions out there before I call a technician? Going to have to eat the cost of the new display panel. I thought for sure that was the issue. thanks

Samsung (gas) range some keys not working (bake, broil, clock etc)

We have a Samsung gas range model NX58H5600SS. The problem is that some of the control panel keys are not responding. Keys like Bake, Broil, Clock Self Clean doesnt work. But other keys like Roast, Pizza etc does work.

Few points to be noted:
- “control panel lock” is not locked.
- Tried disconnecting the power cable and restarting it after some time.

I really appreciate your guidance on how to go with troubleshooting this issue.

Thanks much
Ben

KitchenAid Superba reset after PF ?

My girlfriend has a KithenAid Superba glass-top oven. Last night she was in the middle of preparing dinner, when the range stopped working. The burners just stopped responding. The oven was also going, but she had set it at 425 and it only seemed to want to go to 350. Then the oven also stopped responding. None of the buttons or dials seemed to do anything anymore. I flipped the main breaker, thinking something may have tripped it. Still nothing, but now when I turn a burner dial the entire control panel lights up for a few seconds, then a "PF" comes on.

I'm a novice, not very skilled with electric or mechanics, but can generally follow simple instructions. I just don't know what to do here, or if it is a problem way beyond my ability. Is there a basic re-set function, that I should try first, before actually calling a technician to come out and look at it?

LG LSB5611SB Oven and Range display malfunctioning

Good afternoon,

I recently purchased my home, and the stove that came with the place was immediately exhibiting problems. The previous owners attempted to fix it (in the most lackadaisical manner possible), but ended up insulting the only authorized LG repairman in our area, so now the burden has fallen unto me. I have attached the service manual for a very similar model as a reference (unable to find our model online). I work as an engineer in a chemical plant, and my days often involve troubleshooting industrial instrumentation, so this activity is not outside of my comfort zone.

The Problem:
The stove main display "lights up" all of the available options, making the screen almost unreadable. Additionally, the range display does not display the power levels correctly. I followed the troubleshooting guide in the attached service manual, but several differences in my model compared to the service manual model (primarily the difference in the Secondary power transformer harness arrangement) have made me feel unsure about the end result. Long story short, the troubleshooting guide has led me to believe that the transformer is shot and needs to be replaced.

Does anyone have a copy of the LG LSB5611SB service manual they could pass along (link to product page: http://ift.tt/2eWlFe4)? If not, I would greatly appreciate any assistance troubleshooting this matter. Please see below for more information regarding how I came to the conclusion of a damaged transformer.

Thank you!

Doxxy

TS:
Starting on page 6-1, I followed the troubleshooting guide to page 6-3 (display is not blank, stove makes beeps when pressed). I then found 122 VAC at the power inlet (although the power on my machine is connector C2, not C3). After disconnecting the power, I checked the transformer connections. This is also different, as the secondary side has three pairs (red, yellow, green) and a lone wire (blue) coming from it (feeding into a 7 slot harness) instead of simply two pairs. Now, the yellow pair fails the resistance check with 4.5 Ohms, but I cannot conclude if that is actually the root cause simply based on colour alone.

Any help is appreciated :)

Dacor PCS230B double oven heating problem

Our double oven is not heating correctly. If you try to bake at 350 it will never heat to that temperature. The display will show 350 but the oven will not be at that temp. If you put it at 400 or above it will burn everything. This happens in both of the ovens so I don't think its a heating element unless both have the same problem

NE595R1ABSRAA Samsung E-81 code

Our Samsung range took a dump on us the other day. The previous day, my wife ran self clean cycle. Went to use oven next day, didn't work. It let my wife set the temp. she wanted to cook at, and start the oven, but after that, nothing happened. I went and reset breaker, a error code E-81 appeared. Looked up code, it suggested it got real hot, and that the high temp. thermostat may be the culprit. It was cheap enough so I ordered one. Before I installed it, the screen on the panel was showing the time of 3:50 (which never advanced), and that the oven divider shelf was in place. So, I unplugged range, let it set for like 10-15 min., took things apart and replaced the thermostat, reassembled and wa la!...nothing. Nothing on the screen illuminated. Waited about 30 min. and nothing still. So, I'm guessing I got other problems. Anyone else have any suggestions?

Jenn air downdraft range broiler turns on, won't turn off

Hello, I own a Jenn air downdraft range, dont know model # yet, when I was baking the other day, the broiler turned on all of a sudden and wouldn't turn off on its own, i have turned it off at the breaker, and when i turn it back on it automatically kicks on. Trying to figure out issue because we rely heavily on the oven at our household, i have had the control panel of it worked on in the pass (about 2 years ago), so could really use some ideas.

KitchenAid Oven KERS206XSS3 takes 2 hours to heat

A few months ago my KitchenAid oven/range stopped heating the oven and upon inspection I noticed that the power connector from the control board that goes out to the heating elements had melted and damaged that portion of the control board. I purchased a new control board and replaced it, and then replaced the end of the power cord with a new flag terminal connector.

The oven now works, but it takes almost 2 hours to heat up, no matter what setting I use (preheat, broil, bake, convection). It does heat up, but takes a really long time. What I have also noticed is that it keeps switching back and forth between the bake and broil elements, no matter which one I selected to heat. The switch is constant and can happen between 30 seconds to several minutes. This constant turning on/off of the elements is clearly why it is taking so long to heat up.

However, I do not understand what could be making it do this? I have tested both elements and they seem to be fine. Could it be a bad thermostat? Or a faulty control board? Or a lack of power getting through the new terminal connector?

Any ideas or suggestions?

Oven Buttons are not working

I am having trouble with only some of the buttons on my double oven wall unit. About half the numbers work, and about half of the other buttons work for turning on and off the ovens and bake/broil/convection buttons It is older (2004), but it is in great condition, but for the buttons which are pretty important in turning "on" the ovens. Is there anything I can do to fix this oven, as I really don't want to replace a good working oven.

VGIC3074BSS Viking natural gas oven one burner won't ignite

Viking natural gas oven one burner won't ignite even after switching igniter from L to R and R to L

I have a Viking natural gas range and noticed that the oven burners weren't igniting so I had a repair person come in on Nov 27, 2015 and tell me that I need to replace the gas supply valve (pb010084). They quoted me an obscene amount of money to supply and replace the gas valve so I sourced the part (pb010084) and replaced it myself. The pb010084 did not solve the problem so I replaced both the igniters in December, 2015 and everything has worked perfectly until today.

I noticed that the left bottom burner (left side when facing the oven door) would ignite for a few seconds and then go out while the right bottom burner continued to burn.

Here's what I have done did so far:
  1. swapped the igniters by moving the L to the R and the R to the L with the result that both igniters glow, the right bottom burner fires up but the left will not even fire up anymore; and
  2. installed the original pb010084 that came with the stove with the result that the right bottom burner still fires up but not the left bottom burner.

I have concluded that the igniters are not the problem since I switched them around a couple of times and only the right side fires up.

Could it be that both the original and replacement pb010084 are defective whereby only the left side is not working?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for reading.

LRE30453ST/01 LG Oven/Broiler won't shut off!

My LG oven Model #LRE 30453ST /01 has become a problem since I last used the oven self-clean feature. The oven (both convection and regular) and broiler turn on and keep temperatures just fine. The problem begins when I go to turn off the oven or broiler! I push the Cancel/Off button, there is no click and the oven remains on. The only way to shut it off is to either unplug the entire range (or easier to go flip the circuit breaker)!

I checked with LG (originally to find a repair person) and they also checked the model and it is not included in any of their numerous recalls. It is over 125 miles one way to get an authorized LG repairman here, so that option is out!

My husband ordered what he thought was the part that would work (Oven control board OEM part # EBR74632605), but this did not change the problem (and thankfully could be returned).

I know I don't bake often, but he has given up searching and I really don't want to keep turning off the circuit! If I can find the correct part, he will install it!

Any help or suggestion is appreciated!

VGSCS364GSS Viking Oven Only Starts After Slamming Door

Everything on our range works EXCEPT that the oven is finicky and won't start unless I open the door and shut it firmly. Even with that, sometimes we can't get it to start.

When I say that it won't start, the oven acts as if I haven't turned it on. No clicking, no lights, no other audible sounds.

I thought that it was the door switch, but the oven light turns off when I close the door, so if the same switch is used to activate the oven it appears that it is working OK. (I welcome feedback if there is another door switch for the oven to be able to activate).

I also notice that the blue indicator light turns on and off when it is running. I'm not sure if this is normal or not.

Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

Stovehood Fan Not Working

Looking for help !
The fan on my Zephyr Venezia Stovehood Fan (Model ZVE-E30AS) has stopped working. I has 6 speeds up to 750 CFM. Lights work fine. It is over 10 years old. I have previously torn it down to change bearings twice over the years so I am quite familiar with the guts of it. This has me stumped a bit. Unfortunately, I cannot locate the wiring diagram nor a repair manual. I am trying to find which electrical component is bad. The issue starting happening after a neighborhood power glitch which also blew out my Verizon FIOS requiring a new distribution box.
When you push the fan button there is no noise at all, no hum, nothing. I did a complete teardown, used jumpers, and this is what I determined:

  1. Switch continuity verified OK
  2. Circuit board output (to the fan motor) with motor unconnected is OK at 120v.
  3. Circuit board output (to the fan motor) with motor connected is NG at 0v.
  4. Starter capacitor (25 uF) tested OK on meter, spike on meter repeatedly as you switch leads. I do not have the right meter to test the uF tolerances. The cap was physically perfect with no bulges, etc.
  5. Hooked up the fan motor direct to 120v with the starter cap in place and the fan ran perfectly. Although, it runs only at the highest speed (which I recognize from the sound).
  6. I suspect something on the circuit board is sensing something not right with the motor/cap and therefore shuts the voltage off to the motor.

What do you guys think ?

Maytag Double Oven - Upper Baking Element slow heat but broiler is fine

I have a Maytag double wall oven MEW6627DDB. The bottom oven baking element operates fine. The upper oven baking element is very slow to heat up. It'll cap off at 225 degrees after 30 minutes. I replaced the element and the problem is still there (element resistance registered 21 ohms). The broiler in the same upper oven works great. I have the schematic, so would this be the thermostat, the resistor for the baking element, or the control board? Removing this thing would be difficult for just me, so if I can get pointed in the right direction now it would help. Thanks!

Nesco 18 Quart Roast Air Convection Oven Fan Blade

Hello,

I have an 18 Quart Nesco Roaster Air Convection oven with a missing convection fan blade.

Pic of original fan blade

Click image for larger version.  Name: s-l400.jpg  Views: 1  Size: 38.7 KB  ID: 34444

I'm looking for a replacement fan blade, however Nesco no longer carries a replacement so I'm looking for a 4 inch diameter convection fan blade that can be used, perhaps modified as a replacement.

The fan blade fits onto a 0.25 inch motor shaft using a clip (as seen in the pic). The fan motor shaft has a flat side where a set screw could be used to secure the fan blade.

I've found several ~4 inch convection fan blades that use a threaded shaft (some with nuts and washers). I suppose I could thread the motor shaft with a dia however I'm first trying to find an approx. ~4 inch convection fan blade that uses either a clip or set screw. (Possibly the fan blades bore hole can be larger than 0.25 inch.)

Thermador SMW272YP - not heating, 100F on display

Hi. I'm hoping someone here smarter than myself can help me with my triple stack Thermador in-wall oven not heating. To preface, we've never done the self-cleaning and it was working fine since we moved in (over a year ago) and then all of the sudden the oven stopped heating at all and shows 100F on the display but the element isn't even starting to warm. The loud fan does kick on like it does when the oven is working properly but no heat at all and a constant 100F on the display. The techs and I have tried tricking it to heat by starting with broil cycle but that doesn't work either. Oven will not heat no matter what we try. We've had 5 or 6 techs come to look at it/"fix" it starting with home guard insurance (which was a nightmare) and we're still no closer to having our oven working again.

The first two techs came in a diagnosed as bad relay board and/or relay switch and Thermador no longer makes these parts. I'm pretty sure relay board = control board and relay switch = the bake & broil relays on the control board. After home guard wasted 2 months "waiting for parts", they decided to tell us that our oven is "commercial grade" and not covered by them (laugh out loud), they decided to pay us out maybe 1/5 the cost of a new oven.

At this point, I researched enough to take out the control board and display board and send to a circuit board repair company who tested and said the board is working fine, so they sent it back. I reinstalled and still same issue. So I called a local appliance repair company to come out. When they did I told them that the board has tested good at control board repair company, so he quickly diagnosed it as bad cut-off switch/button. This is a $5 part located in a small panel directly above the lower oven (only oven, not counting the microwave above it). He had my hopes up because he pressed that reset button for 2 seconds and then he started a bake cycle and put his hand in the oven and said it was heating up. However, as we were both looking at the display board and noticing it staying at 100F we felt the element and noticed it wasn't hot/warm at all. He said that it did begin to heat and then it must've cut out, but I don't believe it even began to heat up at all and maybe he just wanted to diagnose it and order the part so he could come back and install it.

He came back the next week and installed the cut-off switch which didn't help. He also connected some wire from the cut-off to some other wire, effectively bypassing this thermal cut-off and that didn't help either. At this point, he took out his voltage wand and started to place near the various relays and cables going into the control board while trying various heating cycles. I witnessed him holding the wand near the bake relay and starting a bake cycle to 400F or something like that, and after starting the bake cycle the wand stayed some color (either green or red) and then after about 4 seconds the color changed to the other color which he told me and I assume means that the relay lost power or failed to deliver voltage from the relay to the heating element. He held the wand near broil relay and started broil cycle and it was a little different. Instead of showing a solid color for several seconds (like it did on bake), it was flickering on one color and continued to do so until we turned the broil cycle off. He said that the broil is getting power but very low power. He said the problem is definitely in the control board and suggested that I send it to one of the two reputable control board repair facilities that his company usually sends boards to as he had never heard of the control board company that I found online and had previously shipped the board to.

I decided to contact the board repair company that I initially shipped to and told them everything from the paragraphs above and they sent me a shipping label to get it back to them for a senior tech to test. I just heard back from them 2 days ago that the board is still testing fine. I believe their standard testing on their test bed is to heat using bake and broil to at least 250F. They've given me the option to pay $120 for preventative maintenance which entails replacing the relays on the board and other component repair/replacement or they can ship the board back to me as-is again.

This is where I dearly need your advice / help! Is there any way that them repairing a board that is already working fine for them will make the oven start working again for me? Should I buy a new element and have someone install it? Or is there something else I should do? Thank you for reading this horror story and for any help you can offer!!

Whirlpool Super Capacity 465 Oven will not Heat

I have the Whirlpool Super Capacity 465 Gas Range (Model SF315PEGQ1). The oven will not heat. I have experienced this problem once before several years ago. Before, the glow plug had burnt in half. I replaced it and it has been working since then until now. Once I accessed the plug, I became concerned since the plug looked worn, but not burned through. I replaced it anyway, but the new one did not heat up. I checked the voltage on the connector from the stove to the plug, and got 120VAC when starting the oven. I put the old plug back in and it continued to not light up. {On a side possibly non-related note, none of the stove top igniters have worked for at least a year.} Any thoughts?

Westinghouse CC-774 Electric Range Re-Wiring Help! I refuse to quit on this thing

I have been doing what I can to restore a old 1950's or 1960's Westinghouse CC-774 Electric Range that was left with the house i just purchased. It would have been easier to just get a new stove but I think this thing is too is to rare and has too much character to just get rid of it. When I began trying to get all of components, none of the lighting components were operating this is because the last person who "fixed" the range, jerry-rigged the wiring not to code Since ive been working on this ive figured out that luckily all the components are working but were just not wired properly. I would be extremely grateful to anyone who can help me solve this ranges wiring out as ive had trouble finding someone who re-wires vintage electric ranges. This thing is the last thing in my house that is keeping it from becoming my home. I know im close to getting this thing functioning safely any help would be more than appreciated and would be very much grateful

My main question:
- How can i wire this thing up so all the components are functioning properly well also bypassing the the oven timer and the surface 2 prong outlet receptacle On the front of the range near switches Ive been stuck on where to put the neutral wires to complete the circuits ?

-Can i use my old working switches that powered the original surface burner using a 3 wire (red, black, white) circuit burners with newer 2 wire burners (red, black)?

HBL8450UC Bosch Oven Relay Switch Issue

My single Bosch oven (HBL8450UC) has been stuck on broil/it just keeps heating. A tech came out to confirm what I suspected was a faulty relay switch. I am wondering if just the relay switch can be replaced or does the whole control board need to be replaced? The difference in cost is substantial. A follow up question is I am wondering if a new control board will provide us with many more years of use from this oven or should we consider just purchasing a new oven? We stand to drop close to $500 for the control board plus $200 in labor but if a couple years down the road it fails again or if we have to end up replacing the touch pad we'll drop another big chunk of money. Thanks for any suggestions.

Magic chef 60s stove small gas smell

Hi All,

Our trailer has a very old Magic Chef stove that works absolutely fine. Everything is based on propane lighters that stay on all the time. There is 3 of them 1 for the oven and two for each set of two burners. Everything just works fine and we have no issues aside from a very faint propane smell from the two font burners when everything is off. I thought it was the valves that were feeding them but then I sprayed soap water in to the valves and there was no bubble at all. I did even check my soap verification method and when I open the valves the bulbs do appear quite easily.

The only way you notice the VERY VERY faint leak is by sticking your nose into the burner when it is off and just sniffing around. Then you can smell it. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? I will post pictures and photos soon.

Thanks a lot any help would be very much appreciated.

Viking VGIC305-4BSS 30 has 3 problems - please help!!!

Hi guys,

I've been trying to find information about repair of viking range and ovens and came across this site. I hope you guy will be able to help out.

My now 10 years old viking VGIC305-4BSS 30 has had its oven igniters replaces a couple of times by me. I usually order the genuine spare parts and do the dirty work to save on the outrageously expensive viking technical repairs.

My oven wouldn't heat up properly and after a while it wasn't igniting, so I figured the igniters had to be replace. So here are my 3 questions.

1. The over igniters replaces and now when I test my over, the two igniters get very hot but only the left burner burst into flame, the right one doesn't. Why and what could be the cause now that the igniters have both been replaced? I inspected the right burner and it looks in better shape than the left that works. (see photo)

2. The photo of the burner with rusty and damaged holes is the one that works. How sever is this damage and how dangerous its condition is ?

3. The 4 range burners keep making that ignition noise even when they are burning, so I also replace all 4 igniters with brand new ones but they keep making that noise. What is the cause and what should be replaced now ?

Your help is much appreciated!

What is the easiest way to take fan out from KitchenAid Range Hood ventilation from hood

When I turned on the fan (Range Hood), it works (look like working ) but some noise.
I goes to web and it suggested to change fan motor

http://ift.tt/2uxS4uF
Also I got some parts diagram.
http://ift.tt/2uymGwp

But I am not quite sure how the cylinder shaped ventilation fan attached to the range hood.

I purchased Downdraft vent fan blower wheel, Range Hood Fan Motor and Wheel.
So I plan to replace, however I am not sure what is the best way to disassemble.

I am thinking 2 ways
1) Without dismount the whole cylinder shaped ventilation fan part, try disassemble and clean or replace (Using Spacial Driver)
2) Try dismount and then disassemble, I do not know how ventilation cylinder parts attached to the range hood so a bit scarey for this option

Could you please advise?
I attached some pictures.

C272 Thermador wall oven cuts out

Thermador double wall oven with the glass "touch" control panel.

Oven occasionally cuts out, with the display going blank or blinking like after losing power. After playing with it for a bit I discovered I can make it fail by lightly tapping the control/display panel with my fist in various places. If I flip the breakers off/on, it goes back to normal.

Clearly there is an intermittent component or connection I need to track down. Is there a known issue with this symptom? Also, how do I take the panel apart? Any troubleshooting or disassembly info anywhere on the net?
Thanks for any help.

LRE3083ST Electric LG oven heating to slow

Hello I have a LG electric range Model# (LRE3083ST) that stopped heating in bake, convection and broil after I put it through the clean cycle. I checked all the heaters and the continuity was good and then checked the sensor and the continuity was good. I inspected the relay board and discovered two burnt wire's coming from the relay going to the bake heater and some burnt discoloration on the back of the board. I ordered a new relay board replaced it stripped the burnt wires back and replaced the connectors. Now it is heating but taking 3 times as long to get to temp on bake and convection. Does anyone have any other ideas?? Thanks!

Blew circuit breaker

My electric range blew the circuit breaker when the oven was being turned on. I pulled it out of the counter slot. Disconnected the power. I looked at the elements. Both "look" ok. I disconnected both wires from both elements. I checked continuity from all four element tabs to ground. Should I read continuity from the red wire to the chassis........AND from the elements to the chassis? That to me sounds like a direct short........when I checked from the 3 power tabs to chassis, only the red one and the white one beeped. The black one did not..........I took the red wire off of the power block, and it read continuity to chassis "until" I unplugged that wire from the oven control. After unplugging it from the control, I didn't read continuity from red wire to chassis.......but, still read continuity from element tabs (all 4) to chassis......can somebody give me some direction here
Thanks in advance!

Does my GE XL44 gas oven have a pilot light?

Hi all,

Tomorrow my gas will need to be shut off temporarily for some work and I was wondering if my GE XL44 (model JGBP30AEW1AA) has a pilot light or not? I haven't been able to tell as searching for "GE XL44" gives many different models, some with pilot lights and some without.

Thank you for any help.

LRE30453ST Lots of buttons not working on LG range

Hello all. Trying to figure out a problem on a LG LRE30453ST range that is 7 years old. Hoping to solve issue this way instead of having to buy a new one. Which might be cheaper route, I don't know. Problem is that multiple buttons on the control panel will not work. The main one being the start button. The broil and convection buttons work but you cannot start the oven. Also, 2 of the burners will not adjust to hi or low, the element size selector does not work either and on the number pad only numbers 2, 4 and 7 work. I have tried unplugging and resetting with no luck. Tried to unplug some wires and no luck as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated before my wife and I spend our Fourth of July holiday looking at ovens.

Troubleshooting single burner won't ignite.

Looking for some confirmation of what part might be bad while troubleshooting a single burner that won't light on this gas stove.
The most used burner is not regularly igniting (front right) with the use of the knob. If I let the gas run for a few seconds and then turn it to light it is possible to get it to fire but that is becoming more difficult. I have tried cleaning everything I could see but that has not helped at all.
I am not sure if it is just the igniter that is bad and it is a cheap fix or it is a more complicated repair with more expensive parts.
All knobs elicit a clicking but this one burner won't light easily.
Any insight appreciated.
Actually I am wondering if it is as simple as this part:
Kenmore Range/Stove/Oven Spark Electrode WB13K10014

Should I try replacing this first and then the igniter if unsuccessful?
Should I test resistance on these parts to see if they are still functional?

Much thanks.

NE595R0ABSR Samsung oven not heating correctly

Samsung oven not heating properly. Wife has tried baking using the bake setting and convection settings and both setting will not heat properly. Placed a thermometer inside the oven and the temps are about 100 degrees off. All the elements ohm out correctly. The factory thermometer ohms out correctly. I have 220V to all elements except for the convection element.

Maytag oven problem

I have a Maytag Gas range, Model MGR7662WB 2, Serial Number R04713246. The burners all work fine. The broiler will light some times but not every time. When it does light, the sequence is as follows; I push the broil and start buttons, the igniter will spark 5-7 times(approximate) and then stop shortly after the igniter will start to spark again and there is an audible sound, "clunk" (valve opening ? ). With the oven, I push bake and start and the igniter will spark then stop. 15- 20 seconds later it will spark again (always 5-7 times, I haven't actually counted). After another 20 seconds it sparks again but I never hear the audible "clunk" sound. There does not seem to be any type of glow plug/preheat on this igniter. Tried replacing the igniter with no change. ANy help short of having to replace the oven would be appreciated.

Igniter Cost

My oven igniter glows but gas is not flowing. From reading various posts, I'm assuming I need to order a new igniter.

I was thinking 30 to 50 dollars, but the replacement for EOM part number 318177710 is coming up at 192 dollars. Is this correct?

Thanks in advance.

Obsolete oven temperature sensor?

Hello all, this is my first time posting. Please bear with me here, as I know next to nothing about oven repair.

I'm trying to replace a spent temperature sensor on my very old Eaton Viking oven (Canadian model), which seems quite obsolete judging by the the components. As you can see by the photos I've attached (where it looks like something exploded), the sensor assembly is quite different from the standard models of today. There are yellow and black wires with flat, clip-like connectors (sorry, I know zero terminology) which clip into metal slots on the back of the white box on the back of the sensor. This is all mounted on the back of the oven using just one screw on the left-hand side, where there is a single screw-hole, so the mounting itself is different from the modern types as well.

My question is, could there be a workaround for connecting a new temperature sensor to this oven, given the mismatching parts, or am I hooped? Thanks in advance for your patience with my explanation, and any advice.

Viking VGRC365-6BDSS - No Ignition Spark in 4 of 6 Burners and No Ignition in Right Oven Burner Tube

We have an older Viking oven/range and in the past two years (since we moved into this house) I've become a tiny bit acquainted with some of the issues that Vikings have. I've already replaced both of the oven igniters, which solved a previous oven-not-getting-hot problem. Now I'm not getting ignition in the right side burner tube again. This comes on the heels of our range giving us issues as well. The left front and back burners spark and ignite, but the right 4 (two front and two back) won't spark.

Finally, I think something is going on with the broiler, it looks like the back is lighting but the front sputters in and out.

I suspect I need a new spark module to solve the range issue, but I'm stumped about the oven going again.

Thanks in advance for any advice/thoughts.

EW27EW55GS5 Electrolux wall oven won't maintain temperature

My Electrolux wall oven will heat up to about 50 degrees below the set temperature. (Used 2 thermometers for the average) It then begins loosing temperature and will not kick back on.(will drop below 100 degrees if set at 400)

I have replaced the oven temperature sensor with no change in performance.

I have now noticed that if set on "convection bake" it will preheat to within 25 degrees of set temperature and maintain the temperature within 25-50 degrees.

Any ideas? What's next, the control panel perhaps?

Thanks for any input.

NX58F5500SS Samsung gas range control panel not responding

We have a Samsung free-standing gas range model NX58F5500SS. The problem is that the control panel buttons are not responding. By the way, the “control panel lock” function is not enabled.

Tried the following:

[1] Check the outlet voltages between Hot, Neutral, and Ground. Hot is about 120V from Ground/Neutral. No voltage between Ground and Neutral.

[2] Very little resistance between Ground and the gas range chassis.

[3] Unplug the oven for a time and then plug it again. The display shows the words “Cook Time” for a minute or so, and then it displays the clock. After a few minutes, it goes back to displaying “Cook Time”, a minute passes, and then back to the clock. It does this over and over. While all this happens, the control panel buttons are unresponsive. Every once in a while, after unplugging and re-plugging the unit, everything looks normal for a while (buttons respond to touch) and then it goes back to the “Cook Time” loop. If we leave the range unplugged for a few hours, then as soon as we plug it in, all the display segments light up before going into the “Cook Time” loop.

[4] Disconnect the ribbon cable between the control panel and the printed circuit board (PCB). After plugging the range back in, we get a flashing clock but no “Cook Time”. Of course, the control panel is no longer connected to the PCB so the buttons are unresponsive.

[5] We replaced the PCB thinking it was the culprit but the problem remained.

At this point we are thinking about replacing the control panel. Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
--
Nelson
