FE710DRS Samsung oven heat failure

Greetings,

This 3-year old Samsung oven seems to have experienced a failure on the control board. there is a burned area where the red wire running from the terminal block connects to this particular component on the board. The plastic on this part has melted, causing the wire to dislocate and the circuit to lose continuity. I don't know the name of this component, but it is a blue plastic rectangular box labeled "KET 6" (image included)

this issue appears to be similar to a thread posted by Jekyl on 4-24-14, but it is unclear whether or not that issue was resolved. Samsung has been no help.

The range top works, but the oven does not. Bake and broil elements themselves both have continuity. does anyone know what this part is, what may have caused this failure, or if the entire control board will need to be replaced?

Thank you!

Ken

LG Electric Range LRE30451SB/02 Oven will not maintain set temp

When using the oven I start the bake cycle to heat to 350. It reaches this temperature and gives off the 3 beeps to let me know it's there. After I place whatever item I'm going to bake in the oven the temp display will indicate the oven is still at 350 degrees however when I open to check a short time later the actual temperature in the oven is significantly lower despite the 350 on the temp display. I restart the bake cycle and the temp display then shows a temp anywhere from 100 to 300 degrees. Trying to determine what part is malfunctioning.

Samsung NX58H5600SS range barely boils water

Hi all.

Our brand new Samsung stove takes over 20 minutes to barely boil 3 quarts of water, then never gets past a low boil (on the "power burner" or any other burner). The flames are blue...except once a few days ago when in the middle of cooking they turned yellow. Since then, they've been blue again. It's professionally installed, with LP conversion professionally installed and correct LP orifices checked multiple times. Simmer calibration professionally adjusted.

Videos:

So far:
  • The gas company came and confirmed that gas pressure was good at the burner (12" WC)
  • The Best Buy technician changed out the regulator in the stove

Everyone is stumped. Anyone have any insight please?

Replace 2 0+4 Spark Modules with 1 0+6 Spark Module in 6-Burner Viking?

I have a 6-burner Viking stove which uses 2 0+4 spark modules (e.g. the PA020047 or Invensys U-67204-7). In other words, two outputs of one of the spark modules are unused. It seems silly, but that's the way it is.... One of the spark modules is now dead or dying. I've replaced spark modules once or twice before, so buying a replacement and plugging it in seems straightforward enough. But since the other spark module has always been a little flaky, and a single 0+6 spark module (e.g. the PA020048 or Invensys U-67205-28) is less expensive than 2 0+4 spark modules--wait for it--would this stove work with a single 0+6 spark module? That seems a lot more elegant.
So far I've been unable to find any electrical specs for these parts. I'm willing to guess this is pretty standard stuff, meaning the 0+6 would work fine, but maybe someone here can at least guess a lot better than I can!
If I can use the 0+6 spark module, one loss would be how robust the stove is with the next failure. Now I might be able to plug burner ignitors into the unused spark module terminals, and get a little more life out of it. If the 0+6 spark module dies, the whole stovetop dies, and making dinner gets a lot harder while I find the replacement. But stashing the flaky 0+4 spark module I have now so that I have a prayer of finding it again would give me some backup there.
Thanks for any suggestions, or entertaining commiseration.

Element stuck on

Hi, I was cooking with my Rangemaster ELAN 110 duel fuel as I heard what sounded like a pop come from my oven but it still worked fine, however when I turned the oven off and the fan stopped the element was still burning hot and glowing bright red and nearly set on fire as the fan wasn't keeping it cool. I had not that long ago replaced the thermostat on the other oven so don't think it's that, I have removed the element for the time being so I can still use the oven and everything works fine but when it's turned on the light comes on for that oven without even turning the knob showing that it's trying to heat it up, I have done some reading and it seems that it might abtually be the clock that needs replacing as this has some controls on it that may be setting the oven to fully turn on with no temperature control, hope I've given enough info for people to assist. Thanks in advance

Junker oven controls troubleshooting

Can I safely disable the oven control panel and still use my range?

Hi, I have the dreaded F1 error on my electric oven and the beeping won't stop. I have unplugged the oven to stop the beeping, and I know I need to replace the oven control panel. My knobs for my range burners are separate, and since I am not going to be able to replace the control panel in the next couple of days but would still like to use the range, I am wondering if 1) the range will still work if I disconnect the oven control panel and 2) if so, is it safe to leave the oven control panel disconnected and appliance plugged in when I am not using the range?

This is really unfortunate that this has happened to me at Christmas time, so I'm trying to figure out how I can make the best of it without having to rely on my microwave for the next few days! Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Maytag Gemini Double Gas Oven MGR6875ADW Ovens not working and more

I have the subject double gas oven. Neither ovem works tho the stove top does The pad also does not seem to acknowledge commands. I can press the cancel button and hear it beep, as well as the clock, tho i cannot set the time on the clock. I have replaced the Control Panel to no avail. When i replaced the panel, i only replaced the electrial back part, not the pad. Sometimes the SAB mode flashed. The oven worked off and on a few times and went off by itself as well. My roommmate burned some food on it pretty bad the other week on one of the back burners, i wonder if this had something to do with the pad. When i push other buttons on the pad, other things on the pad acknowledge it, not the ones i have pushed. I have unplugged it for some time several times and that seems to wake it up a bit, but then goes back to itself doing nothing. Any ideas? Thanks...

FER300SB/XAA Samsung Electric Oven Inaccurate Oven Temperature Reading

Example: Turn on oven, set to 350 degrees. Oven digital screen gets to 350 and beeps, BUT temp is 275. About 3 minutes later temp gets up to 350. Sometimes it won't get to set temp, and if you bump it up, it goes way over temp. Circuit board new in June of 2016 because LCD screen going out. I took temp. sensor out and took ohm reading 1096 at room temp (in range according to Samsung tech pamphlet taped to stove back). Ohm reading on heat element was 16.7 (I don't know if this is within spec). Any suggestions would be great. Even if temp sensor is within ohm specs, can it still be defective? Thanks

Forgot to mention that I checked for error codes....screen showed "no epp"???? Don't know what that stands for.

no heat in my GE Spectra stove

We are getting no heat to the GE Spectra range we have. Power is going to it. the clock and timer work and the red light comes on when a burner switch is activated but none of the burners will heat and the oven will not heat. It is not a breaker issue. However, before tearing into it I am wondering if anyone thinks this could be a faulty Terminal Block or could it be a faulty control panel? I am trying to decide the most cost effective way to deal with this. Having a repair person come to the house costs more than buying a used and functioning range. Any suggestions?

Old Oven Removal

Hello Everyone! New home owner here with almost zero repair/installation experience. I have two very old Jenn-Air ranges in my kitchen island. The previous owners must have been caterers or avid cooks. Anyway, I have a new range convection oven on the way and I ran into a question when I attempted to remove the old oven. There is a rather large vent underneath the oven (picture attached) that i have no idea if I should remove or if it is needed for the new oven. The old ovens had vents in the center of the range burners so I assume the vent below helped funnel the air??? I realize I should be calling a professional but I'm the type of person that likes to learn and try first. Any help is much appreciated!

Oh btw, the new range/oven is a Samsung 5.8 cu. ft. Slide-In Electric Range, Model #NE58K9430SS.

LG Range LRE30453ST/02 Oven temp.

So, my oven will not come up to temp. Broil will work, but bake will only come up to around 200 degrees. I changed the thermostat, that didn't help, and had some one with little experience look at it. He says some board needs to be replaced, was not specific at all. If some one could tell me witch board it sounds like needs replacing, and where I can purchase it at a reasonable cost, I would greatly appreciate it.

Jennaire jdr8895aas ovens m

Unlike some other posters, I have loved my Jennair duel fuel source double oven range! It has served me well until recently. Problems started when I had cleaned the oven and after cleaning, the bottom door would not unlock. We reset the breaker but my husband ended up having to "jimmy" the door open. The lock didn't ever go all the way back in resting position and slightly catches each time the door is open and closed. But everything worked after that until just recently. Now neither oven will go into clean mode. When I select the clean cycle, it just beeps. Also, when I am using the upper oven at high heat it will turn itself off after a period of time and "lock" will blink very faintly. In order to get the oven to work again, we must turn the main breaker off, let the oven cool and then reset the breaker.
I love my stove and don't think they are making this model anymore. Any ideas?

Burner problem

The right front dual element burner p/n 316418400 on my stove top stopped working. When turning the knobs for upper right and lower right burners the lights work showing the temperature but there's no heat to the lower right burner. You can hear a click when turning on the right front burner. So I replaced the right front burner but still no heat. The main stove console works great. So what could be the problem?

Can anyone help me?

LDG3016ST LG Gas Range/Double Oven, Upper Oven Does Not Ignite

I have had my stove about 5 years. About 6 months ago the upper oven stopped working, though the broiler ignites fine. The error code is F9 which just means the oven won't heat. I have replaced the thermistor and the ignitor with no luck. It seems like other parts that could be a problem are the oven control board or power control board. Are these the same thing? I see multiples of these on the Repair Clinic parts page for my stove, and they're fairly expensive (~$75-85), so I want to see if I can figure out whether it's bad and how to know which is the right part. Thanks.

Frigidaire Wall oven stays frigid

My Frigidaire wall oven (FGB24L2ASA) quit working in the middle of a meal. The igniter will not heat at all, no glow. I checked the continuity of the igniter and it tested in range (366 ohms) and I checked at the plug for the igniter and it read 121 volts. I am at a loss here 2 days before Thanksgiving. What could the problem be?

2004 Viking Duel Fuel range oven went pop, emitted smoke, stopped working. burners work fine

VDSC5304BSS

Can anyone help me figure out what might be the problem? We got this second hand three years ago. I was in the middle of cooking -- one burner was on when I turned on the oven and this happened (the pop, the smoke, the breakdown)

This is a lean time financially for us due to a lot of recent doctors bills and we are hoping we may be able to fix it ourselves or our very nice electrician can if we find the problem and the part. Can't afford a $400 fix. Won't be able to cook for T-giving:(
p.s. Thanks for any help you can give. I found the service manual on line but it looks like it is for the newer ones.

Estate Oven TEP340TQ-1 bake burner gets hot then stops heating

Hello all, my Estate oven (TEP340TQ-1) bake burner glows hot when first turned on then goes cold. I have checked the burner for continuity with a multimeter and for visible damage and it seems fine. The broiler works fine. I have pulled the back cover off and checked for loose wires. I just do not know what to look for next. Ok, here's my situation: Maytag double oven about 9 years old; during the cleaning cycle, a round cover inside the top oven (right side) popped out; it looks like a "knock-out" type cover you'd find in and electrical box about 3"; now there's a hole with exposed insulation showing --- does anybody have experience fixing this?? NGM8054UC/01 Bosch igniter removal

I have a Bosch cook-top in which one burner fails to light. I would like to change out the igniter but cannot remove it. I understand I need to remove the bolt in the center of the burner however, it is so thin that it does not really clear the bevels on the edge of a socket set, and the socket slips off. I tried using PB Blaster to loosen it up but without result. Is there a trick or tool that I need to remove this or am I going about this the wrong way?
See picture below.
Thanks.

Have a year and half old samsung electric range. Wife was using stove top burner and turned knob from the front big burner, through off, to the small back burner. When she did this she immediately heard a pop, and a flash from back of stove. No error codes on display, and oven seems to function fine except there is no warming to anything, even oven.

Model number is NE597R0ABSR

I am very mechanically inclined and will be bringing home my dvom this weekend from work ( diesel mechanic). Just need a little guidance on what to check. Ive already pulled the stove out and checked for anything obvious

Thanks

LRG3095ST LG Oven Occasionally Overheats

Hello!

I have an LG Gas Oven that has started to occasionally go WAY past the desired set point when baking.

As long as the desired temp is set to under 400, it always hits the mark. That is, set to 350, it hits 350. Set to 375, it hits 375.

Whenever the desired temp is ABOVE 400F (say, 425F), it will sometimes (not EVERY time) go way past the set point and we catch it by "smelling something hot". I've caught it at 500F and still climbing a couple of times.

It does not always do that, and I understand that it is tough to troubleshoot when it's not repeatable (I am in the electronics design biz).

According to what I've read, there are 2 boards to suspect - one is a relay board, and the other looks to be the controller board.

When I command the oven OFF, it always goes OFF. That's never failed.

Q: Any suggestions as to what to go after first?

Thank you very much for your time.

LG LDE3037ST Oven Temperature

Hello

So I have a LG LDE3037ST oven that seems to be having an issue with the top oven. I know for sure the top oven has the issue but not to sure about the bottom one as I haven't tested it. I set the oven for any temperature and it says it's preheated in very little time. It took a while to cook some rolls the other day so I did some testing. I set it for 350 and like 4 minutes it said it was ready. I then set it for 400 and it went up for 350 to 395 then 400 and it said it was ready at that temp. Again I set it for 500 and it slowly crept up and got to 420 then bam it said it was at 500. All within a few minutes.

It's definitely not at the temp it says it is. The broiler seems to be working fine though.

Anyone have an idea what I need to do to fix this?

Bypassing Oven Thermostat with a light switch

Hey all.

I had a post about my oven having a fire and then not working. I was finaly able to get the model number when i pulled the control panel off LEB116GR1WH. The thermostat turned out to be the probelm and it being a $150 part to repair a oven i paid $30 I started hunting for alternatives. I dissected the sensor and control unit and mapped out the element and singial and feed wires. I spliced the feed and bake element together and WALLA! glorious cooking heat. Me being the tinkering redneck that I am have a ideal id like some feed back on. My plan is to wire the feed and bake wire to a switch possibly a light switch because I have a few sitting in my shop and putting a oven thermometer in the oven. then when we need to cook something just flip the switch till it gets to temp then flip off and keep a eye on the temp flipping the switch as it drops. Any thoughts?

Thermador GGS30 Left Rear Knob Wont Turn

I have a Thermador GGS30 gas cook top that is having an issue with the left rear XLO knob not turning nor able to be pushed in like the other knobs. In my uneducated opinion I fear the problem is with the gas control valve under the potentiometer but I want to make sure before I tear it apart. Would a bad spark module prevent the gas control knob from being able to be pushed in or turning?

LG LSC5622 Dual Front Right Burner

Hey Everyone,

I've been searching and searching for a part number for our LG LSC5622 range but there appears to be very minimal info on it as its a Canadian model. Finding parts for anything LG in Canada appears to be impossible.

Does anyone have a part number that I can order in Canada or the US for the front right burner(dual element). Local repair shop wants $375 + tax to order and install and at that price, I'm borderline ready to just purchase something that isn't LG.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Jenn-Air WW30430b KW rating neeeded

I'm replacing a single wall oven with a double Jenn-Air unit. This is a 1999 model--WW30430B. Does anyone know what the total KW rating is? I can't read the KW rating off the plate. My current wiring is 10-gauge, 3-conductor romex from a double-pole 30-amp breaker. Do I have to upgrade wiring to 6-gauge and a 60-amp breaker?
THANKS!

GE Cafe Gas Cooktop: Ignitor nor light panel not working

Hello:
I did a detailed cleaning of the Cooktop yesterday. THe cooktop has five burners and lock/unlock knob. Before cleaning, I turned the knob to lock position. I removed all the the knobs soaked in water to clean it. Putting everything back and I turned to the unlock position. I tried to light one of the burner. However, the ignitor didnt give any clicking noise, but the gas is flowing. Moreover, when the burner knob is turned, there would be a blue glow under the knobs. Now I dont see that. Electric short circuit??? No trips in the main panel. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Switch Burner Leads

I have a Tappan gas range, model 285647B. The front left burner won't light. The back right burner wouldn't light either. I replaced the ignitors. That fixed the back right (it had a chip out of it and wasn't sparking), but didn't fix the front left burner. For the heck of it, I switched the leads going to the front left and rear left burners and now they both light! Is this OK to do? Will it cause any other problems, or doesn't it matter which burner each lead goes to?

Stoves Electric Oven - Works Fine Until I Turn The Knobs to OFF

Hi

We are about to move house and we have a strange issue with out stoves electric fan oven.

It broke a few years ago and we had an engineer out who 'fixed' it.

The behavior we are seeing is that the oven works totally fine and you could leave it on for hours and it wouldnt cut off.
Once you have cooked your food if you turn the temp dial and function dial back to the off position the metal front casing begins to get hot and then the oven cuts off. once the temperature drops to around 100 the oven comes back on and will work absolutely fine.

You can stop this from happening by turning the temperature knob to 0 and then leaving the function knob at fan oven until the temperature drops to around 100.

I suspect the engineer has bypassed something but I am not an electrician so wouldnt know exactly what?

Does anyone know if this is something that could be fixed without too much expense?

thanks in advance

Gary

LRE30757ST/01 LG Range bake element melted

I've been having trouble with my oven since the first year we got, July 2010. I got a lot of f-4 error codes, especially if I tried cooking on 350 or lower. Then, the temp kept going up when I was baking unless I would keep opening the door or turn it off and turn it back on. The extended warranty repairmen kept telling me nothing was wrong:mad:. I've been having trouble getting the temp over 350 for a while now but no more error codes.

I opened the back and "bake" on the pcb has a burned area and about 8" of the hidden bake element is actually MELTED to the bottom of the hidden section of the oven.

There are other sections that are also fried like in the photo. I have to idea how to get the melted part unstuck from the bottom because it is stuck on there pretty good. So far nothing I've stuck in there will unstick it and of course it's at the front while I'm working from the back. Any help would be appreciated and is it even worth fixing.

Kenmore Elite Gas Range: Oven Burner acting erratically

Replaced the Oven Igniter about 6 weeks ago and appeared to work properly up to about 2 weeks ago. Attempted to bake some bread and set to Pre-heat, 425. Oven never came up to temp. Next day, going straight to Bake and 300, observed the Oven Burner emitting a flame pattern of only about 3/16", very blue. but it came up to the set Temp of 300, cycled off. Off for about 45 seconds and then lit again. This time, flame was coming from RH side (looking to rear of oven) of tube only, still very short in length. I've re-checked the Igniter, putting out 3.8 Amps and Safety Valve is showing Continuity at both Broil (it's working beautifully with about 1" flame, blue with few yellow tips) and Oven leads. I'm on Liquid Propane. All top burners are working perfectly, as is the Broiler. Being a Dual Valve, is it possible that just the Oven side of the Safety Valve is malfunctioning? My wife says "Trash It." I'm for trying to save it if possible. Thanks for anyone's response who might shed some light (pun intended) on my issue.

Samsung FER300SB oven not maintaining temperature

Hello,

The broiler element of my oven went out in a blaze of glory a couple of weeks ago (loud buzzing sound and bright white light inside the oven). We replaced it, but the oven is now having trouble maintaining temperature. It will heat up, but then quickly falls. I hear it clicking on and off like it's heating up, but if I turn it off and then back on, the oven will show a temperature 100+ degrees less than what it's set to and then try to re-heat to the correct temperature. The temperature probe is connected close to where the element wires are, so I was wondering if maybe the probe got taken out when the element went- there's some browning of the insulation around where the electrical wires all come together near the back of the element.

Would the next step be to replace the temperature probe? Or is there something else we should try? Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Thermador double wall oven, double failure (no heat anywhere)

It was a classic. Canadian Thanksgiving weekend, we have 14 people coming for turkey dinner at 5pm. at 1pm I fire up the oven and.... Nothing.

Immediate crisis was averted by borrowing a neighbour's oven for the bird but now I need to get this thing figured out.

This was a recovered wall oven (but she's a beauty) and when I installed it a month ago the upper oven worked fine but the lower unit did not. (It wasn't urgent to repair the lower unit as we'd rarely need it. But now we have none.)

I have the service manual for the unit:

thermador CT127N CT227N CT130N CT230N double oven service manual.pdf - Google Drive

but could really use some guidance with trouble shooting.
On the lower unit, I did removed the heating element and tested it for continuity. It passed and so seems good. (I have not yet tested the element on the upper oven, the one that just failed.)
The broiler does not work on either unit.

Dacor Range RSD30S oven door hinge issue

The oven door is not aligned correctly and it appears one of the hinges is bent. I purchased the hinges and am now trying to change them. The issue is that I cannot remove the door. The hinge release lever is suppose to move upright over part of the hinge but it is also damaged, plus one of the hinges is bent in a way that it would not fit over the release lever. Is there any way I can release the hinge from the oven in order to remove the door? Thanks!

Oven/Broiler clicks but won't ignite

Long time user, first time poster here!

Our KitchenAid Oven has been unusable for some time now. The stove burners all ignite as normal, but the oven/broiler don't seem to spark. I can always smell gas when it's trying to light. We have intermittently gotten the lower (oven?) burner to ignite, but now it does not. Also note that the broiler electrical element does heat properly.

My first inclination was to replace the broiler igniter, as it was the most accessible. I replaced this part directly but have not seen any changes in behavior. I am not entirely sure how to access any of the control boards so I can begin testing components (wires, etc.)

Any direction or consulting is GREATLY appreciated.

- Dan

How to check continuity on an oven selector switch

Attached is the schematic of a GE WB22x27 oven selector switch. I'd like to know which contacts are made when the switch is set to Bake. Is it A to L1, B to N, and C to L2? And for Broil would it be B to L1, and C to L2, A no contact? And Time Bake (TB) A to T1, B to N, and C to L2? Also Is T1 the same as a neutral (N) connector?

GE Oven issues

I have a GE Built in electric oven, model JKP45 that has an upper and lower unit. I am having multiple issues with it. Here is a list of my problems:

When I select the broil feature on either unit, the display says HI and when I hit start it just sits there and nothing happens. When I select the bake feature on the lower unit it displays 100 degrees and when I set it for 400 and hit start I hear a click but it never heats up. When I select bake on the upper unit it heats up to 400 and then powers completely off. The clock display goes off and there is no evidence of power to the unit. After a while the power comes back and the clock starts flashing. Is there a part in there that controls all of these features. I am assuming there is a control board that may be defective but I wanted to get some feedback before I pull the unit away from the wall.

Replacement radiant surface element not working

Both front radiant surface elements burned out within one month of each other. I ordered replacement elements, and installed them. The right front element works with no problem. The left front element will not work. I have tested the infinity switch by swapping it out with the exact same switch on the right front circuit, and it works. I also swapped out the identical radiant surface elements, same result. I can get the right circuit to operate correctly, using either switch or either element, but I could not get the left circuit to operate, with either switch or element.

I then tested the continuity through the wiring from the left switch to the left element. The wires all seem to have the correct continuity, but I still get no heat on the element. The "On Indicator" Light comes on when I move the left switch to any "on" position, but there seems to be no current flow from the switch to the element.

Any suggestions for my next troubleshooting step?:wall:

Viking VGSC48 - Oven burner won't stay lite

Hello,

I am having trouble with a viking range I recently bought and converted to propane. Surface burners and griddle work fine.

30" Oven burner lights immediately, the igniter keeps firing (it's a spark igniter), and then the gas valve closes after about 10 seconds shutting down the burn. Re-tries ignition after about 30 seconds, same thing.

Same thing happens with the broiler burner.

18" Oven does not work at all. (if I can get the 30" working, I can worry about this later)

Checked resistance on all the gas valves, all were <3ohms.

Swapped ignitors between the 2 ovens, no change.

Any thoughts on what's going on?

There was a previous thread here where it was thought to be a spark module, but I can't seem to find the part for my model.

Oven Knob Not "Zeroed"

If you turn the oven knob, it turns the D-shaped stem properly, but to turn the oven off, we have to apply pressure and turn the knob counter-clockwise past the actual 0 degree mark a ways, until it looks like it's 300 or 400, or whatever, to be sure we've turned the oven off. Then we have to check it twenty minutes later to be sure it actually turned off, and that we don't have to turn it a little farther. Every time we shut it off, we guess about how far we have to force it to get it to actually shut off, and turning it on, we guess what number to turn it to to give us our actual temperature.

It's been like this a long time and I've scoured the Internet unable to find a fix. So I hope someone here knows how to fix this stem issue. Like I said, the knob turns with the stem, the stem just doesn't properly indicate "Off" anymore.

P.S. I'm not sure what my model is, I can't find writing anywhere. But I can pull it away from the wall if I need to and look.

Dacor PGR30 - Bake Igniter does not glow

I have a Dacor PGR30. I replaced the computer, main relay board, gas safety valve and the bake igniter. I verified that there is continuity on the wire that runs between the gas safety valve and the bake igniter. I verified that there is continuity between the wire at the bake relay and the other side of the igniter. I verified that the hi temp reset switch is set in operational mode, that the thermostat has 1080 ohms across its leads, that the bake igniter has approximately 5 ohms of resistance across it, that the DBL relay and the bake relays are working. What I am seeing is that when the oven is placed into bake mode, the BA side of the Bake Relay measures 120V, the ac voltage measured across the bake igniter itself (when connected) is 0 volts, between one of the bake igniter connections to ground is 120V and the other side to ground also measures 120 Volts. The bake igniter stays cold. What else can I do? Thank you for your assistance.

Repairing a Thermador Double Oven Knob

I own an electric Thermador Double Oven - Manufactured 1994.

One of the plastic oven control knobs keeps coming off. The internal plastic hole has worn away and is too loose to fit the metal stem.

I have not been able to find a replacement because of it's age. I've tried the manufacturer, appliance repair companies, ebay, online, etc

So at this point unless anyone has a better suggestion I'd like to simply glue or use putty to get the knob back and operational.

My question is:

1. Is there a good adhesive to withstand the high heat of the oven
2. Is the adhesive strong enough to work - gripping and turning the metal stem?

Thanks

Vintage GE Americana - Terminal for Plug?

We recently acquired a lovely, vintage, GE Americana J785. On the back of the unit, there is documentation that shows the terminal block where the 110v is wired in for the range lights, etc. However...for the life of us, we can't figure out how the 220v plug is to be wired in...there seems to be no terminal there, and nothing seems to be missing...can anyone direct us to information about this or provide information in regards to how and where the terminal is on this old beauty to attach the plug?

Thermador wall oven SMW272YW relay replacement part number needed

Broiler will come on but not the bake element. Circuit board not available so it's either fix the board or replace the whole oven. Problem is probably a power relay: Omron G8P-UA-006206, is 30A 250VAC. I can't find a replacement and apparently Omron doesn't make one with this part number any more. Another forum post gave a replacement relay for a very similar relay ending in 006203 for a Frigidaire wall oven. The new number is G8P-1A4 ... something like that. Difference is in the coil voltage. Do you have any way to cross-reference the old relay number for a relay that is currently manufactured? Thanks for your help!

Viking Range - Can oven igniters physically burn out?

Hi All. I have a Viking range oven that the ignitors went bad on and I just replaced. I noticed now that it is working again there are flames directly hitting the ignitor. Seems a hole was burnt or coroded or something in the burner rail next to the ignitor and now yellow flames are lapping right on the unit. How hot are these things designed to get? Is it possible for the flame to physically burn up the ignitor?

Thermador insulation bag

Hi – I am restoring a 20 year old thermador 48in range with 2 ovens. The larger oven has an insulation “bag” lining the right side panel - plus 2 layers of a half inch white insulation outward from the bag. The smaller oven does not have this bag, so I assume the bag is additional insulation to support the self-cleaning temperature of the larger oven.

The bag has been ripped and the insulation inside appears crumbled into a fine brown dust. This part is no longer available from Bosch. Do you have something you would recommend? Im sorry that I don’t know enough about insulation materials to describe this better. The bag looks something like Kevlar and the insulation inside is the color of coffee with a lot of milk, portions of it seem like it was originally pressed into a form and has now deteriorated into a fine dust.

Thanks, John

GE Profile Induction Cooktop Range

I have an induction range that stopped working last night - the control panel went blank but the oven light would come on when the door was open. I turned the breaker of for a few minutes then on but nothing changed. An hour later the clock started blinking, I reset it and everything worked. This morning the control panel was blank; this renders the oven and stove top completely inoperable. Any thoughts?

Kenmore cooktop 911.42709100 right front burner only works on high

Hi All,

The right front burner on the cooktop only works on high. As soon as you turn off high, burner shuts off. The other three burners work fine. It has been this way for a couple of years but my wife saw the July 4th Lowe's sale and told me to repair it or replace it! Ouch

Also, if there is a known repair, is the expense (part$ and time to dis-assemble) worth it or should I just stick a fork in it and buy a new one?

I have looked for new but I am not seeing offerings with the cut out size of mine 28 5/8 x 19 1/2
I do not have the assembly manual but it doesn't look too difficult.

Thanks in advance for any assistance. You have always been very helpful in the past.

Keith

DCS Cooktop - attaching the gas line

Hello all,

I am looking for some help. I have an electric cooktop that is old and I am replacing it with a DCS 30" gas cooktop (model CDV-304-N). The gas line is already there, I just need to hook it up. But I've never worked with gas - I can do it, just need some advice. The gas line outlet is female. The yellow gas connector they gave me fits it nicely, and it appears it has it's own regulator in it (right?). But the cooktop came with a regulator also, and the red tag says "you must use it" but if you read the last line, maybe what it is really saying is "the gas flow must be regulated". So maybe the yellow line takes care of that. Thoughts? Would it be bad that I have 2 regulators possibly? Also, the reason I started thinking about this, is because the yellow gas line doesn't connect to the DCS regulator - both are female. So I thought I'd have to go buy a male to male adaptor, but that is just another "connection" i'd have to make, and another thing to tape and test for leaks. I can do it, but do I need to??

Also, do I use thread tape on every connection, or just to the gas line itself?

Also, my max BTU's are 65,000. Is it ok that this connector hose has a higher capacity range?

Thermador Pro-Range PGR486GDZS 48 inch Griddle not igniting AGAIN!

So I was last here back in March of '09 and now June of '16 my griddle is up to it again. Actually, not sure when the thing gave out, but it's been over a year. Anyway, I got used to using a manual "clicker" to get the griddle going again and it's been a pain, but you learn to deal with it. NOW, *however*, the griddle won't stay on. So I can get it to light manually, as I just described, it will heat up to the desired temperature, but then when shuts off and won't re-light to keep the temperature. My problem back in '09 was it just wouldn't ignite, but it would then keep the temperature steady once I got it going. The whole time, however the blue light is on.

From my notes from last time I have the following part numbers:
-Spark Module for griddle 00618624
-griddle solenoid part no: 00418064
-ignition device for surface burners: 00189010

Assuming I need the spark module to light the griddle, like last time, correct?
But do I also now also need the solenoid?
Last, the two top burners that I use the most I always have to use a clicker to start. Can I simply swap the ignition thingies from two burners that I use the least? The ones I use the most are the middle front and the right front, those two don't turn on without having to use a Bic clicker.

Thanks again for all your help.

Changing cooktops

Just purchased a new home with a 30" Electrolux Electric Cooktop and want to swap it out for a 30" Electrolux Induction Cooktop. It is installed in a Quartz island and so am concerned about the size of the cutout. The installation instructions indicate the dimensions for the Electric are slightly different than the Induction so am wondering if anyone has any experience with this sort of a swap and how critical the dimensions are. I am unable to measure the actual cutout as I'm in a different city.

Electric Width required 29 3/4" to 30"
Induction Width required 29 5/8" to 29 3/4"

Electric depth required 20 3/8" to 20 5/8"
Induction depth required 20 3/8" to 20 1/2"

It would seem that the depth shouldn't be an issue, but the width, assuming the hole is built to spec, could be out by 1/4". Anyone know how critical this could be?

Thanks in advance.

Deepfryer frying itself !

I'm looking for some insight as to what may have happened to my Rival deep fryer, it's worked well enough for ten years, using it every two or three months for just a few small batches of fries, last time I went to use it there were no signs of power at all and looking at it's current condition I'm feeling lucky it didn't catch fire ! the fried wire goes from the timer to the temperature probe clipped to the heating coil, I'm just assuming it's not powered so I'm wondering why it got so hot, enough to even melt the solder. any ideas ?

LG Range Oven - Very slow to heat up

Hey,
Hello to all
We are looking for some advice. Our LG range oven LRG3093ST00 is giving us some problems.
Very slow to heat up..takes about 45 minutes to get to 300
We are getting the F11 error code occasionally

Trouble shooting I have done already:

  • I have removed the bottom panel to expose the burner and the glow plug/ignitor
  • Here’s what happens:
  • I start the bake process
  • I see the glow plug glow white hot
  • It takes about three minutes and then the ignitor ignites strongly for about 3-5 seconds and then it dies down to barely lit

I guess my question is:
What components need to be replaced to resolve this problem

Dacor Cooktop - High altitude NG settings

I have a Dacor PGM-365-1 natural gas cooktop. It is not the high altitude version (above 5000'). We are at 5000'. We have a burner that doesn't work well, apparently due to high gas flow extinguishing the flame resulting in an igniter that comes on at high settings. The parts catalog clearly states that conversion to high altitude is not to be done in the field, but I'm wondering if this is true. As far as I can tell, there are no parts that are marked “high altitude” in the parts catalog. Is it possible to adjust the gas pressure regulator to improve things? Would this help? How is this done?

Samsung electric range - Pop and flash behind and now "cook top on" light stays on

Can I fix this myself or do I need to get a professional to fix this? is it one of the switches? if so, how do i figure out which one? what part do I need to purchase to fix and from where? are there any videos online that will show me how to do this myself? sorry for so many questions :-) thanks in advance for any advice/info.

Viking gas range - 3 Second Delay to spark on Rangetop

We have a Viking gas range top with spark igniters. For years it would continue sparking after the burner lit Typically a longer post sparking cycle after the stovetop was cleaned. Recently the behavior have inverted. Now it will wait 3 seconds after the gas is turned on to spark once. It ignites the first time but the delay is troubling. THe behavior is not burner specific.

I've cleaned and de-greased all the igniters and everything above the stove surface.

Could this be one bad igniter? The igniter controller? loose ground/return and if so where to look?

I'd like to pre-order the parts so I'm not pulling it apart twice.

Frigidaire gas oven won't light

I'll try to keep this short. I had to pressure test the gas line for our home, and got a bit carried away with the amount of pressure I used. Additionally, I did not turn off the supply line valve to the range. When everything was said and done, I damaged the range pressure regulator. I installed a new regulator and now the stovetop burners will ignite, however neither the bake nor broil burners in the oven will ignite. Everything was working just fine prior to over pressurizing the gas line, and in fact I replaced the lower ignitor a couple years ago. I suspect the gas safety valve is damaged, is there a way to confirm this through some sort of test? A replacement is quite expensive and I would like to know for certain that is the problem before purchasing a new one. Since this could be a mechanical failure of the valve I am thinking a continuity test will not help.

No output for bake or broil.

Plug this unit in and it comes alive. The burners work fine. Both oven elements OHM good. 120VAC to the elements to ground both ends both elements. So far so good. Push the button for broil or bake and nothing. No 120 VAC at the BR or BA terminals on the board. No temp display on the clock that is on. Can it be that the circuit board feeds both relays is burnt. The board (other that cockroach crap everywhere) looks great, no burnt areas.

Riveted in Custom Igniters Stopped Working

I have a 40 year old Chambers stove top. The two igniters are riveted into two towers, each with 4 holes, 2 holes feeding two burners through flashover tubes, the other holes are for clean out. These igniters are fabricated as a pencil point piece of metal mounted vertically with a pointed silo roof of metal above. The spark jumps from the pencil point to the roof. When new, there must have been a plating on the parts. This plating has worn off. All crud has been cleaned off with Goo Off, and denatured alcohol. That cleaning doesn't restore function. I have to clean with Tarn-X to restore the igniters temporarily until they corrode again within 24 hours. Does anyone have permanent way to restore these igniters?

Samsung Oven Control Board DE92-02439e Burnt

Hello: In July 2013 we bought a new Samsung Split Oven, In Nov 2015 the upper temperature sensor was giving us error codes. We contacted Samsung, since it was out of warranty they would not do anything for us. They told us to contact An Authorized Service person. We live 1 hour west of Ottawa Ont, no one from Ottawa would come to look at the stove, they said too far away or it is out of warranty and we only do warranty work. We got the temp sensor working again. Then this past weekend wife was baking bread. A electrical burnt smell was coming from the exterior of the oven. Seeing no one wanted to work on the oven in the fall, I took the back off of the oven. The oven control board De92-02439, on the left side by the top relay was burnt crisp. Wife emailed Samsung today, generic response from them saying contact An Authorized Service person, wife is calling Samsung tomorrow.
I noticed a couple of years "Jekyl" had the same problem. We are wondering if we buy a new board off of the internet and replace it, will the next board burn up also or will the stove work for another 25 years?
Thanks for any help that any of you can give

LG Oven Temperature Not Right

Hi Folks,

My oven was working fine until two days ago. I set the temperature at 350 degrees F and then when the oven beeped that the set temperature was reached, I opened the door and the oven was clearly not as hot as it should be. I turned the oven off and restarted it and the oven read 210 degrees. From this it appears the over is running around 140 degrees under what was programmed. I tried cooking some chicken but it cooked very slow. Does anyone have any idea when it might be? Thanks.

Amana arg7102w P1143347NW not maintaining temp

Good morning,

I've been struggling with my Amana gas stove.

Went to cook a pizza in it a while back, check on it after it's time to cook and it wasn't anywhere near cooked.

What I've done so far:

I've tested/checked temps throughout the range with a precision temp data logger. I'd start at 200 and go up in increments of 25 degrees F for 10-15 minutes, record the temp and adjust the oven up another 25F.... The readings will usually be pretty accurate until I get up closer to 400F and higher. Then the temp drops off and stays steady at 280-285F.

I've changed the bake igniter as well as the temp sensor to new ones thinking that they seem to be the usual culprits and inexpensive/easy fixes but I still end up with the same result.

As I'm typing this, I'm questioning, is there a separate burner underneath for the broiler and if so, does the broiler kick in to assist oven function when the temps get over a certain level? Maybe it's igniter for the broiler? I have not tried running the broiler alone to see if that works.

Otherwise, the gas stove top works. The display with the clock and timer works. The igniter (old/new) lights up bright yellow and does ignite the burner when turned on...

Just trying to figure out what to do before order anything else. I plan on pulling the the whole thing apart in the near future for further diagnostic fun. I figure next would be to further check all of the connections and check the control board to make sure that looks good...

It seemed like a simple temp sensor failure but of course, that wasn't it. Then reading up on it, igniter seemed very likely, that if the amperage was too low, that the valve wouldn't open to allow burner to fire up which it does up to the higher temps so that seems to indicate it's not that.

Just kinda lost, any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank,
Chris

Electrolux EW30EW55GS1 Bake mode not working. No error codes

Bake temp will not hold

Electrolux convection wall oven, model EW30EW55GS1

The bake temp on this oven does not hold, yet, other heat functions do operate. As a reference, I am using the Electrolux service manual 318-202-104, it’s the one that came up when entering the model number. The owner has a user manual 318 205 130, and shows a different control panel. The service literature states that this oven has three elements; bake (lower), broil, (upper) and convection (rear). In reality, this oven does not have a lower bake element.

I cycled the breaker to see if any error codes came up. No error codes.

Using a temperature probe on my meter I monitored each of the functions with the following results:
• Bake: set at 350. First rise reached 366 degrees and then did not turn back on. Control panel indicated all elements and fans cycling: bottom heat, top heat and rear heat. Oven cooled to 200. End test.
• Broil: set 550. First rise reached 607. The oven cycled to 500, 483, 537
• Convection Bake: set to 350. First rise reached 367, cycle at 325.

Findings: Top and rear heat elements working. Oven temp probe seems to be working in convection modes and broil, rear fan and blower functional. I did not check door lock. At this point I suspect it could be the controller, auxiliary board or the glass panel. Without EOC fault codes, I’m not sure which board to target. The literature states that the auxiliary board controls the convection element and the blower speeds, those components appear to work. The EOC controls the bake, broil, preheat, convection bake and convection roast modes. Bake mode does not heat but convection bake does.
The boards are pricey so I don’t want to experiment by swapping out boards.
Given that I could only find one service manual for this model, which by the way shows a different controller than the one on the unit, and the oven does not come equipped with a bake element, , I’m suspecting that I don’t have the correct reference for the controller diagnostics. Suggestions?

Model number reads NE595R0ABSR/AA
Background: This is my first post here, but looking for help. Didn't much in a search yet. I've owned this oven for a little over 3 years. My girlfriend and I don't cook every night but cook Pizzas, and make mac n cheese on the stove top. I don't think i've ever used the convection Bake.

So last night, my girlfriend turned the far left knob to turn on a burner when there was a loud POP. I was not in the room but she described a flame coming from the back. It got her hand a little and also made little black burn specs on the wall. Sounded like something electrical. It also popped the breaker for the range. I did not try turning it back on. I am an IT guy and have quite a bit of experience with hardware and motherboards, so I took the back panel off. I really don't see any burn marks or any wires that look frayed. Maybe i'm not looking for the right thing.

This is the burner knob (I had already taken the screws out to remove it)
